tataki

2815 california @ divisadero

motivation
: dinner with jellybean and pinky, to get caught up on all our star-fucking adventures. (apparently, spring is the season for threesomes.) and pinky had read an article in the chronicle about arctic char and this righteous movement towards sustainability in the seafood industry.

early conclusion:  i have a new favorite sushi restaurant in the city.  tataki has everything i could want.  exquisite fish including my favorite, aji; a vegetarian menu; a sustainability guru; a lovely location, and reasonable prices.  casson came out to talk to us about how they choose their seasonal offerings, why arctic char is a good replacement for salmon, and when it's ok to eat farmed fish.

i ate like a pig.  a discerning fish-eating pig with opposable thumbs, that is.  nigiri of shiro maguro, kona kampachi, suzuki, and aji.  we had the seaweed salad and the ocean salad, cold spinach, and the arctic char carpaccio.  we shared the divisaderoll, the rainbow and the 49er rolls.  and the couple next to us let us try their fire-lit extinguisher roll.  at least i think that was what was flaming next to us.  it was all delicious.  and i wasn't drunk, i swear.

flirtability was great, with casson kissing all the patrons asses pumping his book and everyone high on their self-righteousness at eating sustainable sushi.  also, we were talking sex at our table and in a place that cozy, everyone's ears were perked up.  so you wanna know who we were talking about?  drop me a line and take me back to tataki.

itadakimasu!
